Being Thankful on Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is such a happy time. It's a time to spend time with family and friends. It's a time to be thankful for what we have, which we should be thankful for every day. I, for one, am thankful for such beautiful weather, even if it is a little chilly. I am thankful for good food that will be provided today.

I am thankful for my faith and that I am able to go to mass this morning. I am thankful for Jesus's sacrifice so that I have the hope of eternal life and salvation. What a gift that is.

I am thankful for my family, even though I will not be able to spend it with my mom, dad, or brother. I am thankful my mom does have a job. I am thankful for my extended family, who I will be spending thanksgiving with. I am thankful for the friends I do have, although I am not very good at keeping in touch... I hope they will forgive me.

I am thankful for the major I am in. I am thankful that I don't have to pay anything for school. I am thankful for the Catholic Student Association. I am thankful for the people there. I am thankful for Father Travis.

Most of all, I am thankful for turkey!

Just kidding! Or am I....

Most of all, I am thankful for my life. I am so very thankful, and I need to remember to thank God for them every day.

I hope that I will grow to be a great teacher who is compassionate and caring for the students I will one day (hopefully) teach.

And when I get there, I can refer to here for a fun activity!

Using candy corn to count

I think I want to eat this.... But this looks like a full little activity for youngsters and very hands-on.

I think that wraps up this post for today! Until next time!

I Want To Be an Inspiration

As a teacher, I possess tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all cases it is my response that decides whether a situation will be escalated or de-esculated or a child humanized or de-humanized. By Haim Ginott

These are very powerful words as an educator. I want to give my future students the opportunity to grow, not only in knowledge, but as responsible human beings. To accomplish this, I need to ALWAYS keep this in mind. I will have so much power that it will probably be kind of terrifying. What I do in my future classroom could help aid them to travel down different paths in their lives: paths for the better and paths for the worst.

I want to be that teacher that my future students will look back on and say "She cared about me." I want them to say "She was my favorite teacher." I want them to say "I had a lot of fun
I could help them find their passions and the things that they do not like. These children could love to read, or despise it with a passion. I want my future students to love to read because I know the power of it. I want to show my future students what fun history can be. It doesn't have to be boring. I want to show them that math can be fun. I want to incorporate the fine arts into my classroom. I want to show them love and life lessons that will be important for them to know.

We all have our favorite teachers that we have had throughout our school years.
We all have our worst teachers that we have had to struggle through throughout our school years.
I want to be one of those favorite teachers.

I want to be that teacher that my future students will look back on and say "She cared about me."
I want them to say "She was my favorite teacher."
I want them to say "I had a lot of fun in her class."
I want them to say "I learned a lot from her."

The possibilities are endless. Teachers are very important people and they work tirelessly to provide for their students. Without teachers, where would we be?
